Aberdeen Performing Arts are giving a call out for 8-10 minute excerpts of new writing from writers based in the North East of Scotland along the theme of Black Gold, Northern Lights and My Aberdeen.
Scrapyard is a place to discover the unexpected, to take risks and where the best work is often unfinished.
Scrapyard is a collaborative theatre project which creates opportunities for theatre artists of all disciplines to meet new collaborators, find different ways of working and to take risks in their work. After successful projects with Traverse Theatre, manipulate and Roxy Assembly, Scrapyard are delighted to be working Aberdeen Performing Arts to create an exciting two week project at The Lemon Tree for theatre artists based in the North East.
Scrapyard is open theatre makers of all disciplines; we are looking for actors, dancers, directors, writers, puppeteers, designers, choreographers, clowns, and everything in-between. All we ask is that you are over 18, are, or interested in being, a professional theatre artist and are willing make theatre through a collaborative, devising process. If you are up for taking on the challenge of working with new people to devise new, raw and risk-taking pieces of theatre in two weeks then we want to hear from you!
Participating artists are placed in teams, given a stimulus and challenged to create a short play in two weeks. These theatre ‘scraps’ will be performed on Friday 1 May at The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen in an exciting evening of fresh, exciting North East performance!
